Laser Fungal Nail Treatment

Laser Fungal Nail Treatment

Laser fungal nail treatment is a highly effective, non-invasive treatment for new and established fungal nail infections.

We understand that fungal nail infections can be unsightly, uncomfortable and can be difficult to remedy. Many of our clients come to us when they have exhausted other options such as over-the-counter treatment and even prescribed medications.

Laser fungal nail treatment works by heating the nail to kill the fungus causing the underlying infection. The nail which then grows out from the nail bed will be clear and healthy.

Fungal Nail Infection Treatment - Frequently Asked Questions

Is fungal nail infection treatment safe?
Yes. Laser is non-invasive and non-ionising so therefore cannot cause malignant changes to the skin. Your safety is our number one priority.

It is important that you do not have a sun tan (on your feet!) whilst attending for treatment – sun exposure is the single biggest limiting factor for treatment. For more information regarding this please contact us.
Does fungal nail infection treatment hurt?
Our laser gently heats the toenail, as this reaches the right temperature our clients feel a little discomfort which is immediately alleviated by squeezing the toe.
Can the laser treat all skin types?
Fungal nail treatment is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I – IV.
How do I know that I’m suitable?
Everyone is suitable! Our fungal nail infection treatment works for both new and established infections.
How does fungal nail infection treatment work?

The laser is passed over the nail at a distance of approximately 1cm above the nail, heating the nail, nail bed and cuticle. This will be done 3 times for each nail on the affected foot.

Which laser do you use?
We use a Candela GentleMax Pro – please click here for more information.
How many treatments will I need?
We recommend a course of 3-5 treatments spaced monthly, although established infections may require a few more appointments initially. Following this we advise a 6 month break to allow the new, uninfected nail to grow through – we will then have a follow-up appointment to see if further treatment is required.
How long does treatment take?
Treatment usually only take 30 minutes, after which you can go about your day as normal!
Who can you treat?
We can safely offer treatment for Fitzpatrick skin types I – IV. Treatment is suitable for new and established fungal nail infections.
Do you offer a consultation?
Yes! Our consultations are free of charge and no obligation, and last approximately 1 hour. Consultation appointments are usually immediately followed by the first treatment should our clients wish.
